Baby Driver | Movie Review

Baby Driver - 2017
Directed by : Edgar Wright

Baby driver is a 2 hours of pure adrenaline rush, with its fast pace, meticulously executed action packed car sequences and the killer soundtrack. Its a pure entertainment. So much is said about the directing style of Edgar Wright(its my first film of him), and watching this certainly makes me excited to see his other works as well.

Baby, an Atlanta gateway driver is accidentally becomes indebted to Doc, a crime boss. Doc making most of the opportunity, hires him to do the job which otherwise anyone wouldn't dare to do. The job is to flew away his crime partners from the crime scenes, and drive them somewhere safe. And its not an easy job. And Baby, as Doc says, is best in the bussiness and his lucky charm. Doc's team have other members including, Buddy, Darling, Griff and Bats. Yes! Thats their names, brevity works here. We don't want their names, do we?

Baby is soon on the verge of repaying all the debt which he had on himself and wishes to get out of this mess clean and done. For, he had developed a quite a liking for a girl, or love maybe. She is a waitress in a restaurant he visits often. Their chemistry is sweet and true. He might certainly have found a purpose, which was absent before. His parents are dead, his personal life is quite at halt. He has foster father though, who is mute and cant speak and he takes care of him. His only hobby seems to be music. Not just a hobby but a necessity, because he has to keep listening to music because he had an accident as a kid which got him tinnitus, and music helps his ears. But everything doesn't go according to his plan. He cant get out of his situation, it seems. So he has to get rough and straight. Thats where the game starts.

After the later half, the film takes few sudden changes. It happens so abruptly but it still looks fine and doesn't hurt the films quality. The ending is quite a suprise. It rather seemed little too unbelievable, but it works. The films strong point isn't depth of or coherence, although it hasn't been neglected, it drives its charms from its direction, its coolness. Its bold little movie. It has got the rhythm, energy and lots of cool stuff. It is what we can call a perfect movie experience. It has used the music so well, everything is done with the rhythm of music, so much so you can call it action musical, if there is such a thing. It has got style but has the style but not sidelined the substance, which rarely happens in a film.

Baby driver is a refreshing film. Its not a serious film, it doesn't take itself seriously either. But its still a great display of skills of best in the bussiness. This is some solid filmmaking. Every camera movement is sharp, to the point and deliberate. Each twist of wheel, each second of music is synchronized perfectly. Its a treat to watch, an eye candy and melody to the ears.

Rating : ★★★½

Maqbool | Movie Review

Maqbool - 2003 Directed by : Vishal Bhardwaj Maqbool is a clever character study of a man's gradual descent from loyalty to betrayal; from respect to rage; from reason to madness; from life to eventual and tragic death. Vishal Bhardwaj's Maqbool is powerful adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy, Macbeth, which deals with themes of loyalty, betrayal, love, guilt and death. Set in underworld of Mumbai, Maqbool is realistic portrait of world of gangsters' and their psyche. It is oftentimes dark, serious, repressed and at unexpected times wickedly funny.  Jahagir Khan aka Abba ji(Pankaj Kapoor with his Brando-esque mannerisms), is an aging don of Mumbai, who runs the crime world, with the help of his loyal lieutenant, Maqbool(Irrfan Khan) and Kaka, his loyal(underrated Piyush Mishra). Purohit and Pundit, are two utterly corrupt cops who help them fight their rivals(played charmingly by Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri respectively). They are film's charm and wit. ...

Has Babasaheb Ambedkar's Vision Come True?

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, fondly known as Babasaheb, remains an iconic figure in Indian history, celebrated for his relentless fight against social injustices and his pivotal role in framing the Indian Constitution. Soon India will mark the completion of 75th years of our constitution. It becomes imperative therefore, to scrutinize whether the dreams harmonised by Babasaheb have indeed been materialised or not. The present landscape of the country sees a resurgence of the ideas of Ambedkar for multiple reasons. And his ideas do supply a solid framework - still, for many of the contemporary issues, which even now seem insurmountable. Central to his philosophical vision for the country was the establishment of a society grounded in equality and justice. His work "Annihilation of Caste" remains a seminal treatise on the subject, where he critiques the rigid and dehumanizing caste hierarchies. For him, the exploitation of Dalits was the major problem that sprouted from this rigid caste ...

Lying as he is -  Oblivious, on a dusty road of  Fractured Earth,  I see in him a look that is Not human.  For he seems worried not  About things he had not done  Or regrets about his youth.  Nor there is a choice, a hesitation, Etched into every fabric of his being. Amidst this burden of thoughts,  These echoes of guilt and memories  Like restless, unkind ghosts  Haunts the corridors of my mind,  There blooms an innocence, Like the fleeting grace of God, Unaware of his Purity.  He being only a pup, afterall.   Looking at him, it seems Universe revealed its secrets  To me. But the world weeps Alone, still.  ---------- SECOND VERSION  Lying as he is -  Oblivious, on a dusty road of  Fractured Earth,  I see in him a look that is Not human.  For he seems worried not  About things he had not done  Or regrets about his Youth.  Nor there is a choice, a hesitation, Etched int...
